Cheshire has some genuinely special venues for a wedding day. Wide open countryside, converted barns, grand country houses that feel a world away from the rest of the week. After filming at places like Colshaw Hall, Heaton House Farm, The Hayloft and The Hidden Oaks, I've come to know what Cheshire weddings feel like. There's something about the county that draws couples who want their day to feel relaxed and considered at the same time. That suits how I work.
I'm Terry, the filmmaker behind Capture That Films. Based in Lancashire, I travel across the North West filming weddings in the way that feels most natural to me. Quietly, without fuss, and without getting in the way of the day.
My approach is documentary. That's not just a word I use because it sounds good on a website. It means I show up early, stay until the party is properly going, and spend the whole day filming what's actually happening around me. The nerves in the bridal prep room. The moment your partner sees you properly for the first time. The speech that started funny and ended with everyone reaching for a tissue. A hug between friends that lasted a little longer than usual. Those are the moments that matter, and those are the moments that make a film worth watching back ten years from now.
There's no direction from me on how to stand or where to look. Nothing staged, nothing set up. Just you, your people, and your day. My job is to be there for all of it without you noticing I'm there. Couples often say afterwards that they barely saw me on the day. That's the best review I can get.
The venues I've filmed at across Cheshire each have their own character. Colshaw Hall brings a grandeur to the day that the film takes full advantage of. Heaton House Farm has that relaxed countryside feel where the day just breathes. The Hayloft and The Hidden Oaks are intimate in a way that suits couples who wanted something a little more personal. Emma started her morning at home getting ready with her family, before arriving at The Hayloft in the most brilliant camper van. I was there for both, which is one of the things I love about days like this. Two locations, one story. Her sister's speech was something I won't forget in a hurry.

Colshaw Hall, Cheshire
Some days just have everything. A brilliant venue, a scorching summer's day, live entertainment from morning to evening, and at the end of the night, Dominos served hot from the back of an HGV parked on site. Genuinely one of the best days I've had.
Lucy & Rhys
Heaton House Farm, Cheshire
Lucy and Rhys was one of my first proper paid weddings, after a couple of years filming for friends and family for free. Her family were so welcoming it didn't feel like work. Rhys spent the morning in the den playing table tennis and watching football. Lucy's dress was beautiful, and when her dad stood up to speak, the whole room was his.
Holly & Matt
The Hidden Oaks, Cheshire
Holly and Matt made history at The Hidden Oaks without even planning to. They held the venue's first ever outdoor ceremony, on the hottest day of the year. The light was incredible all day.

Terry was so funny and made us and the guests feel so at ease. We watched it on repeat about 100 times.
I have no idea how they managed it. Unobtrusive, yet always there to capture every moment. We were so overwhelmed with the results.
The final edits were unbelievable. It’s like we are the stars of a blockbuster movie. My gran keeps watching it on repeat.
He was there but not there. He captured what we wanted and so much more, and was brilliant with our son.
