Elopement Videographer

Documentary elopement films at Blea Tarn, Langdale Valley, Lake District.

Some locations find you as much as you find them.

Blea Tarn sits in the Langdale Valley, a quieter corner of the Lake District where the fells come down close and the tarn catches whatever light the sky is offering. There's no venue, no coordinator, no schedule. Just the landscape, and whoever matters most to you. Elopements are increasingly the choice for couples who want something honest and personal over something large and logistical, and a place like Blea Tarn is exactly where that kind of day makes sense.

I know this part of the Lakes well. I walk and climb up there regularly, so when Megan got in touch originally about filming her evening celebrations and then mentioned almost in passing that she was planning an elopement at Blea Tarn a few days earlier, I already knew the location and I knew I wanted to be there. We put together a custom package that covered both. The film below is the teaser from the elopement itself.

The wind and rain came in hard during the ceremony. We didn't try to work around it. Megan and Jake know the Lakes, they love it up there regardless of what the weather decides to do, and that attitude came through in everything. The conditions became part of the film rather than a problem in it. When it cleared afterwards, the three of us walked around the tarn together and took our time with some low key portraits in the quiet that followed.

If you're planning a Lake District elopement and you want it filmed honestly, whatever the forecast, drop me a message and let's talk about your day.

A Blea Tarn elopement I’ve filmed

Megan & Jake

Blea Tarn, Langdale Valley, Lake District

Megan originally contacted me about her evening celebrations. It was only when we got talking that she mentioned the elopement happening a few days before at Blea Tarn. We put together a custom package that covered both days. Below is the teaser from the elopement.

The weather on the fell that morning was everything you'd expect from the Lake District in full voice. Heavy wind, real rain, the kind of conditions that could easily rattle a couple on what's already an emotionally loaded day. But Megan and Jake weren't bothered. They love the Lakes, rain and all, and that came through. We let the weather be part of it. After the ceremony cleared, the sun came out and we walked around the tarn together for some portraits. No rush, no direction. Just the three of us and a bit of fell to ourselves.

If you've seen any of my recent films from big reception days, you'll notice this one sits somewhere completely different. It's not fast paced, it's not built around energy and momentum. It's quieter, slower, and focused almost entirely on emotion. That's not a different approach. That's the same approach applied to a different kind of day. I edit to match what I filmed, not the other way round. Your day, your style, your film.
