A Cheshire venue with a few quiet surprises.
Heaton House Farm sits deep in the Cheshire countryside, on the edge of where the county meets open farmland. It's one of those venues that looks one way from the road and turns out to be something else entirely once you're inside the gates. Wide open grounds, a private garden tucked away behind the farmhouse that most couples don't expect, and a ceremony setup that lets you choose exactly how you want to be married. Cheshire has no shortage of wedding venues, and this is one of the ones that stands out for the right reasons.
From a filmmaker's perspective, what sets Heaton House Farm apart is choice. Couples can have an outdoor ceremony in the grounds, or step inside and be married under a domed ceiling lit up like a sky full of stars. Lucy and Rhys, the couple in the film below, chose the stars. It added a layer of emotion to the ceremony I've not quite seen the same way anywhere else, and on film it looks like nothing else. The private gardens behind the main house are a gift for portraits too, tucked away, quiet, almost hidden, with the kind of natural light you can't recreate inside a marquee. The wider grounds give plenty of room to move around without bumping into other groups, which matters more on a wedding day than it sounds.
I'm Terry, the filmmaker behind Capture That Films. I film documentary style throughout: no staged shots, nothing repeated for the camera, no asking couples to walk back and do it again. I stay close enough to catch the moments that matter, and far enough back that the day belongs to you and your guests, not to the person filming it.

Lucy & Rhys
Heaton House Farm, Cheshire
Lucy and Rhys chose Heaton House Farm for the venue, and we made the most of every corner of it. The brief from them matched exactly how I prefer to work: blend in, film the day as it happens, minimise disruption. They had a lot of surprises planned across the day, both for each other and for their guests, so we hopped on a video call beforehand to make sure I knew where to be and when.
Rhys wanted a game of golf with his friends before getting ready, so my second shooter Paul joined them on the course while I started with Lucy at the bridal preparations. That meant the morning was filmed properly from both sides, with no part of the day missed. The ceremony was held under the stars, which gave it a feel I can't really put into words, but you'll see what I mean in the film. Afterwards we slipped away to the secret gardens behind the farmhouse for portraits, then back out into the grounds for the rest of the day.
What Lucy said
Capture That Films were fantastic. Terry was super helpful throughout, especially as I was quite picky ha. On the day Terry brought a second shooter, Paul, both of whom worked so hard. They recorded everything and stayed from early on in the bridal preparations to well into the party, probably over 12 hours. Terry arranged a pre wedding meet which was super helpful to go through options. The final edits were unbelievable, it’s like we are the stars of a blockbuster movie. Everybody loves it. My gran keeps watching it on repeat. Communication was excellent. I really can’t recommend these guys enough. Thanks again Terry.
