How Much Does Wedding Videography Cost?

A recent Survey suggests that the average price of Wedding Videography in the UK is anywhere between £1,000 and £3000 But, just like anything in life, prices vary and what you get for your money can vary just as much.

If you’ve landed here, you’re probably wondering what’s really behind the price tag. Let’s break it down together, from what impacts the cost, to what you should expect to pay, and why going cheaper doesn’t always save you money in the long run.

Location based pricing

This is a huge factor when it comes to Wedding Videographers pricing their services. Where are you getting married?

London and other major cities - Generally they have much higher living costs and business rates.

Elsewhere in the UK - places like Lancashire for example have an average cost from anywhere between £1,000 and £2,500

If you’re planning an overseas Wedding, check the details. You’ll want to know if travel and accommodation costs are included in the price.

Experience

When I first started out, I filmed my first few Weddings for free and when I moved onto charging, my prices were significantly lower than the industry average, based on my experience.

Fast forward 4 years later, and this is what experience brings to the table

  • The ability to tell a story through film

  • Able to predict moments and give slight direction when needed

  • Operating multiple cameras to ensure nothing is ever missed

  • Using my experience to keep couples on track and being able to guide / advise them

The Deliverables and Coverage

Packages can vary a lot, so it’s important to look at what you’re actually getting. How long will your film be? What moments will be covered?

  • Teasers / Trailers - Short previews of what’s to come

  • Highlight Films - A film of the best moments of your day

  • Feature Films - A true story driven narrative that’s longer in length

  • Doc Edits - Usually RAW Footage of everything filmed during your day

  • Ceremony and Speeches - Coverage from start to finish, delivered in their entirety.

Speak to your potential Wedding Videographer for more information as to what these films include as quite often they do vary slightly depending on who you choose. Coverage wise, it is my firm belief that you need full day coverage ( at least two hours before your Ceremony, and at least one hour after your first dance ). That’s how you tell the complete story.

Why Cheaper Isn’t Always Cheaper

Yes, you can find wedding videographers below the average price, but it’s worth asking why.

  • What’s their experience level?

  • Do they have professional grade cameras and audio gear?

  • Can they show you full examples of recent work?

  • Read reviews from real couples

Good equipment alone doesn’t make a great film, but it does allow us to capture moments in a way that’s cinematic, clear, and reliable. Personally, I use pro-grade cameras, high-quality audio recorders, and I continually invest in training and networking to keep my skills sharp.

If you find someone whose work you love for below the average price, perfect! But make sure you’re comparing like-for-like, so you know exactly what you’re getting for your money.

Let’s Conclude Shall We?

Start your search by looking at a videographer’s work, it’s the best way to see the quality and style you could have for your own day. Once you’ve found a few you like, get in touch with them. Ask about their approach, what’s included in their packages and their pricing.

Sit down together and compare. Look at more than just the numbers and think about whose style you connect with, and who you can see fitting in on your wedding day. The right choice will feel like a good fit both creatively and personally.
