How Much Does Wedding Videography Cost?

An honest look at what wedding films actually cost in 2026, what changes the price, and what I charge here in Lancashire.

If you have landed here, you are probably trying to work out what a wedding film really costs, and whether it is worth it. Fair question, and one I am happy to answer plainly.

A recent industry survey put the average cost of wedding videography in the UK somewhere between £1,000 and £3,000. That is a wide range. The reason it is so wide is that no two videographers offer the same thing for the same money. Let me break down what sits behind the number, what you should expect to pay, and why the cheapest option does not always save you money.

What does wedding videography cost in the UK?

Most couples in the UK pay somewhere between £1,000 and £3,000 for their wedding film. Roughly speaking, the figure falls into three bands.

  • Under £1,000. Usually someone newer to it, or a short highlight film only, often filmed on a single camera. There is nothing wrong with starting here, you just want to be clear on what is and is not included.
  • £1,200 to £2,000. The middle of the market, where most experienced documentary videographers sit. Expect full day coverage, a proper highlight film, and often the full ceremony and speeches too.
  • £2,500 and up. Premium and luxury studios, multi shooter teams, and videographers in London and the bigger cities where costs run higher.

Those bands are a guide, not a rule. Where your figure lands depends on the things I have set out below.

How much does a wedding videographer cost in Lancashire and the North West?

Outside London and the major cities the figures come down a little. In Lancashire and across the North West, you can expect to pay roughly £1,000 to £2,500 for an experienced documentary videographer with full day coverage.

I am based in Preston and I film across Lancashire, the Ribble Valley, Cheshire and the Lake District. My packages start at £1,195, with standard pricing covering any wedding within about an hour of Preston. If you are planning a day in the area, you can read more about my Lancashire wedding videography and the venues I film at most.

What affects the cost of a wedding videographer?

Four things move the price more than anything else. Once you understand them, comparing quotes gets a lot easier.

Where you are getting married

Location is a big one. London and the major cities carry higher living costs and business rates, and that feeds into pricing. If you are planning an overseas wedding, check the detail carefully, because you will want to know whether travel and accommodation are included in the quoted figure or added on top.

Experience

When I first started out I filmed my first few weddings for free, then charged below the industry average while I built up. Several years on, here is what that experience brings to your day:

  • The ability to tell the story of your day through film, not just record it.
  • Reading moments before they happen, and giving gentle direction only when it is needed.
  • Running multiple cameras so nothing important is ever missed.
  • Keeping you relaxed and on track, and guiding you when you are not sure what happens next.

Coverage and deliverables

Packages vary a lot, so it pays to look closely at what you actually receive. How long is your film? Which parts of the day are covered? You will see terms like these:

  • Teasers and trailers. Short previews of what is to come.
  • Highlight films. The best moments of your day brought together into one film.
  • Feature films. A longer, story driven film that gives the day room to breathe.
  • Documentary edits. Usually the raw footage of everything filmed across the day.
  • Ceremony and speeches. Covered start to finish and delivered in full.

On coverage, my firm belief is that you want full day filming, at least two hours before your ceremony and at least an hour after your first dance. That is how you tell the complete story rather than a slice of it.

What I charge at Capture That Films

To put real numbers next to all of that, here is how my own pricing works. Three packages, from £1,195 to £1,995, each one a complete film of your day rather than a stripped back version of it.

  • The Highlight, £1,195. A social teaser, a highlight film of six to eight minutes covering the most special moments including your ceremony and speeches, and a private online gallery to keep and share.
  • The Keepsake, £1,595. My most booked package. Everything in The Highlight, plus your full ceremony and full speeches, every word kept exactly as it happened.
  • The Feature, £1,995. Everything in The Keepsake, plus a longer feature film of ten to twelve minutes, your first dance in full, and a second shooter so two cameras are always rolling and nothing gets missed.

You can see the full detail of what is included on my wedding videography packages, and watch a few recent wedding films to get a feel for the style before you decide.

Why cheaper is not always cheaper

You can find wedding videographers below the average price. It is always worth asking why before you book. A few honest questions to put to anyone you are considering:

  • What is their experience level, and how many weddings have they filmed?
  • Do they use professional grade cameras and proper audio gear?
  • Can they show you full examples of recent work, not just a thirty second clip?
  • Are there reviews from real couples you can read?

Good equipment on its own does not make a great film. What it does is let me film your day in a way that is clear, reliable, and cinematic when it matters. I use professional cameras and high quality audio recorders, and I keep investing in training so the work keeps improving. If you find someone whose films you genuinely love for below the average price, that is a win. Just make sure you are comparing like for like, so you know exactly what you are getting for your money.

From the moment we booked Terry we felt at complete and utter ease. He did what most other companies don’t do, he listened. Because of Terry we now have a lifetime of memories to rewatch over and over again.

Common questions about wedding videography cost

What is the average cost of a wedding videographer in the UK?

Most couples pay between £1,000 and £3,000. An experienced documentary videographer offering full day coverage usually sits somewhere around £1,200 to £2,000.

How much is a wedding videographer in Lancashire?

Across Lancashire and the North West, roughly £1,000 to £2,500 is typical for full day coverage from an experienced videographer. My own packages start at £1,195.

Why do wedding videography prices vary so much?

It comes down to experience, how much of the day is covered, the number of cameras, the films you actually receive at the end, and where you are getting married.

Is a wedding videographer worth the cost?

Your film is the one thing that lets you hear and see the day again afterwards. Photographs hold a moment still. Film gives you back the movement, the voices, the speeches and the sound of the day as it actually felt. For most couples, that is what makes it worth it.

When you are ready to choose, start with the work. Watching a videographer’s films is the best way to see the quality and the style you could have for your own day. Once you have found a few you like, get in touch and ask about their approach, what is included, and their pricing.

Then sit down together and compare. Look at more than the numbers. Think about whose style you connect with, and who you can picture fitting in on your wedding day. The right choice tends to feel like a good fit both creatively and personally.
