Holmes Mill
Wedding Videographer
Documentary films at Holmes Mill, Clitheroe, in the Ribble Valley.
A blank canvas that already has plenty of character.
Holmes Mill sits on Greenacre Street in the middle of Clitheroe, right in the heart of the Ribble Valley. It’s an old mill that has been turned into a wedding venue without losing what made it a mill in the first place, and that rustic feel runs through the whole building.
Your ceremony is held upstairs in a large room, and the size of it gives you plenty of freedom to dress it however you see fit. It’s a bright room too, which is always welcome from a filming point of view. Later in the day that same room is turned around for your evening celebration, so the space where you said your vows becomes the space where you finish the night.
Downstairs is where the building really shows its history. The huge steel workings of the old mill are still in place, and they stop most people in their tracks the first time they walk in. The bar area has a second room, sectioned off by a lovely big curtain, which is turned around for your speeches while your guests enjoy a drink in the bar opposite.
Holmes Mill is a blank canvas, but it’s a lovely one. The building gives you the character and leaves the rest up to you, which means you can put your own style into it and no two weddings here need to look the same.
A quick bit about me before I disappear behind the camera. I’m Terry, the filmmaker behind Capture That Films, based in Preston with the Ribble Valley practically on my doorstep. The Hitched Wedding Award in 2024 and being a North West Wedding Awards finalist in 2026 are nice to have, but what matters more on the day is the way I work. I film in a documentary style throughout, which means no staging and no asking you to repeat a moment for the camera, just paying attention to what is actually happening.
If you’re planning a wedding at Holmes Mill and you’d like a filmmaker who will film it honestly and make the most of everything the building gives you, drop me a message and let’s talk about your day.
A Holmes Mill wedding I’ve filmed
Adam & Mel
Holmes Mill, Clitheroe
Mel was adamant from the start that she didn’t want any posing on her wedding day. She wanted it to feel relaxed, which is one of the reasons she and Adam chose a celebrant, because it gave them far more freedom over how their ceremony ran.
Mel asked me to spend the morning with Adam and his groomsmen, while she got ready at an Airbnb close by with her bridesmaids, her photographer and a content creator. Adam and the groomsmen got ready in the hotel at Holmes Mill, and once they were dressed they practised their wedding party entrances, which were set to Fireball by Pitbull. Those rehearsals set the mood for the whole day, full of energy, friendship, sarcasm and humour, which is exactly how Mel had told me her day would be.
They’d hired Back Chat Brass, who led the guests out of the ceremony and carried on playing through the confetti. Everyone loved their version of Where Is My Husband, and while I was filming I knew I had to find a way to get it into their film. Back in the studio I built their teaser around the band’s playing, and I love how it turned out. It’s full of energy and love, and you can watch it below. This is the short teaser from their day, not their full wedding film.
Filmed at Holmes Mill, Greenacre Street, Clitheroe. Also a regular at Eaves Hall, the Shireburn Arms, Browsholme Hall and other Ribble Valley venues across Lancashire.
