Xana and Adam's Wedding at Browsholme Hall
From a surprise horse and carriage to one of their dogs ending up in the lily pond, Xana and Adam’s day at Browsholme Hall had plenty going on.
Browsholme Hall · June 2026
As Xana finished getting ready in Mews Cottage, a horse and carriage pulled up outside to take her across to the ceremony. Her mum had arranged it as a surprise, and it turned out to be the first of several lovely touches that arrived when none of us were expecting them. Browsholme Hall has a way of making room for moments like that.
One of the hottest days of the year
Xana and Adam married on the 21st of June, which turned out to be one of the hottest days of the year. Browsholme sits at Cow Ark just outside Clitheroe, an estate with so much room and so many different corners that no two weddings there ever look the same. The light on a day like this does a lot of the work for you, and I spent most of it making the most of what the grounds were giving me.
I’ve written more about why I love filming there on the Browsholme Hall wedding videographer page. The short version is that the space gives you endless options, from the gardens to the woodland to the open views beyond.

Two cottages, two different mornings
I spent the morning at Mews Cottage on site, where Xana and her bridesmaids were getting ready, with hair by Dan Shoreman and makeup by Joanne. Adam and his groomsmen got ready separately at Shepherd’s Cottage, another Browsholme property a few minutes’ drive away. Mews Cottage made an ideal base for the morning, relaxed and easy to film in, with no rush on anyone.
Once Xana was ready, that surprise carriage took her the short way over to the ceremony, which is not something you get to film at every wedding.
The honest version of the day
There was one thing we had to work around. Xana had lost her voice in the run up to the wedding, and rather than try to hide it we leaned into it and made it part of the film. I did that partly because it was real and it was their day exactly as it happened, and partly because it will make sense to everyone who watches it later. When family and friends who were not there notice how low and quiet her voice is, they will understand why, and it becomes part of the story rather than something to gloss over.

Both dogs had a job to do
Both of Xana and Adam’s dogs had a job to do as ring bearers, which is always a gamble and always worth it. With the ceremony held outside and a string quartet playing through it, cellos and violins carrying across the gardens, the whole thing had a calm, unhurried feel that suited the two of them well.
The dog and the lily pond
After the ceremony we took the golf buggy out through the grounds to make the most of the gardens, the woodland and the wider views. During the portraits, one of the dogs managed to fall straight into the lily pond. What made it funnier was that only moments earlier Lou Humphries, who was shooting the photography, and I had been joking about which of us would be first to end up in the water. Neither of us had imagined the answer would turn out to be the dog.
That is exactly the sort of thing you cannot plan for, and it is the reason I film the day as it unfolds rather than setting anything up.

Into the evening
The styling stayed neutral and elegant throughout, with the ceremony flowers by Love Letters 2 Hire. As the evening came in, a live singer took over, and Xana and Adam had their first dance to Signed, Sealed, Delivered by Stevie Wonder, which is about as joyful a way to start married life as you could pick.
Xana and Adam, thank you for having me. You gave me the easiest brief there is, which was to leave me to it and let me film the day as it actually happened, voice and all.
If you’re planning your own wedding at Browsholme Hall, or anywhere else across the Ribble Valley, I’d love to hear about it.
